ICBC & other disability benefits.

  • I am entitled to sickness benefits under my Employment Insurance. Am I also entitled to receive ICBC wage replacement?
  • Your ICBC policy does not allow you to receive ICBC wage replacement during the period that you are entitled to receive Employment Insurance (EI) sickness benefits. This applies even if you choose to not apply for EI. An exception to this rule is if you are entitled to more under your ICBC wage replacement policy than you are from EI. In this case, ICBC must top up your EI to what you would be entitled to receive from ICBC.

    While you are waiting to receive your EI sickness benefits you or your lawyer should try to persuade your adjuster to pay you advances on your final claim for damages.
